This is a two hour intermediate/advanced modern workshop with most of the movement being based in the Modern release technique. The class will start with warm up combinations and across the floor. We will play with modern partnering and weight sharing, and explore how we move together. I have been very curious about the possibilities of partnering and weight sharing, and would be thrilled to have a room filled with thinkers to dream up new possibilities together! I am planning to crescendo with a burlesque combination to keep things playful. This will be a slightly explorative class with wiggle room for creation.
Nina Cabral is a dancer and movement artist originally from New Hampshire. After her formative years of training in and out of studios and open classes in the NH/MA area, she moved to NYC to expand her ballet training at The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. For a brief intermission from the city, Nina studied at a community college in Haverhill MA. While attending, Nina played the leading role of Willamina in the classical ballet production of Dracula. After this Nina transferred to The Boston Conservatory at Berklee to satisfy her need for further training, fine tuning her technique, and broadening the styles of dance in her repertoire. Nina has been in several productions and companies around the Boston area, including Jo/me dance, and the annual production of Slutcracker where she played Clara (side note. She has also performed in classic nutcrackers as well with roles such as: snow queen, flowers, Russian doll, toy soldier, tea…etc). However she is now a company member with Weather Makers Dance, and owns her own traveling burlesque company Moonlighter Burlesque.
