This month’s Lady Church will be led by Anne Riley, a brilliant, badass single mom with a passion for uplifting marginalized people and dismantling the patriarchy. Anne was raised within religious abuse and later found herself living many of the same patterns in her marriage. Her journey to freedom began with her daughter, who broke open her heart and made it impossible to keep living in darkness.
Life has continually asked Anne to make brave choices for herself. Most recently, she left a career in teaching that no longer brought her joy and stepped into the unknown. She was guided into the world of jewelry, where she began confronting her own limiting ideas about adornment, beauty, and whether she felt deserving of either.
For this Lady Church, Anne is inviting us to examine the stories that have taught women they must earn the right to adorn themselves as they desire. She encourages you to wear your tiara, or anything that makes you feel like a goddess. This is your opportunity to wear that gorgeous item you never seem to have an appropriate event for!
Astrologically, this Lady Church will fall under the First Quarter Moon. In the witch’s journey through the lunar cycle, this is a time when intention meets action: the Moon is growing toward fullness, and we are called to actively participate in what we are becoming. With the Moon in Capricorn and the Sun in Libra, the sky will bring together themes of self-authority, commitment, relationship, balance, and beauty. Venus will also be retrograde in Scorpio, turning our attention inward toward questions of worth, pleasure, desire, and what we may have hidden or denied ourselves.
Join us to uncover the desires for beauty and adornment we have kept hidden from ourselves. Sisters, it’s time to bring your glorious beauty into the light!
Who we are:
We are a circle of women exploring the sacred beyond religion, patriarchy, and inherited limitations.
We honor the divine through presence, movement, meditation, singing, creativity, ceremony, JOY, dancing, pleasure, and authentic self-expression.
This is a space grounded in safety, mutual respect, and personal responsibility. We welcome women of all belief systems who are curious, open-minded, and committed to their own growth. If this sounds like you, please join us, or reach out to me for more info! We look forward to meeting you!
The format for the gatherings will change each time, depending on which lady is leading the gathering. Future events will include: sensual dance instruction, guided writing exercises, hand crafts (weaving), and much more! Each event will be unique. *END TIME MAY VARY*
What to bring: wear comfortable clothes to move in and sit on the floor. If you want to wear something outrageous or glamorous to express yourself, please adorn freely! Please bring a floor pillow to sit on, or a yoga mat for the meditation. Bring water, an essential oil to bless yourself with, and a journal.
Cost: This is a FREE event. The cost to rent this community space is $20, which I will cover. IF you would LIKE to make a donation towards that cost, there will be a basket available in the foyer. Please only donate out of the overflowing of your own cup!
About me (Laura Hansen): I am a registered nurse working in pediatric psych. I was raised in NH and love the wild openness this area has to offer, and the independent thinkers it attracts. I have a special place in my heart for women like me who are in recovery from religion. In my own spiritual practice I incorporate elements from ancient and modern religions, witchcraft, paganism, astrology, indigenous beliefs, and more.
